h1. *WEATHER IMAGES OF NOAA SATELLITES*
h2. *1. Introduction*
National Oceanic and Atmosphere Administration (NOAA) is a US department that is responsible for an environmental satellite system that sends data from space in order to monitor weather change and extreme weather events. NOAA satellites transmit an Automatic Picture Transmission (APT) analog signal continuously. The APT system uses data streams to transmit a visible image during daylight using channel A and an infra-red image (day and night) on channel B. This project focuses on the algorithm and software implementation to decode and process the APT signal using NI myRIO and LabVIEW.
The project was held in the Telecom-Lab of Telecom Bretagne at ISAE-SUPAERO, for the purpose of the Advanced Master in Space Communication Systems.

These are the listed objectives and the plannings that were made to keep track of the work that had to be done.
* Study & describe the different elements of the NOAA/POES system.
* Study & describe the technique used for transmitting NOAA/POES weather images in APT mode.
* On the basis of recorded signals that are already available, develop on LabVIEW + myRIO, a demodulation and
decoding software for NOAA APT weather images.
* Test & Validation.
* Report & Presentation.
