5. Results¶
Various .wav recorded audios were available for decoding. Results are presented for each recorded signal with 2080 pixels width and for 120 lines/min and an approximate 10 minute signal, a height of 1200 lines (which translates to 1200 pixels). However some audio files are less than 10 minutes resulting to smaller heights.
5.1 Decoded Images¶
Figure 5.1 UK APT Image
Figure 5.2 Florida APT Image
Figure 5.2 representing Florida is has been flipped manually for the demonstration of the peninsula of Florida. In fact, regarding to the the direction of the satellite's motion (North to South or South to North), the image sent is oriented respectfully this orientation. Therefore, in this case we decoded a picture taken from North to South. Moreover, from the middle of the image we are loosing progressively the initial synchronisation but this is a display issue.
Figure 5.3 Central Europe APT Image
Figure 5.3 shows the effect of decoding a noisy recorded signal, resulting from the difficulty in detecting the maximums in the correlation with the synchronisation wave form. We are able to distinguish ths italy area on the right picture.
5.2 myRIO Decoded Images¶
Figure 5.4 UK myRIO APT Image
Decoding process in myRIO is dependant of the cropping of the wave file. The myRIO is limited on the way the file is read and the data are then re-written and concatenated into an array, thus the display is not correctly aligned. Definitely improvements should be considered.
